Foster Homes Needed!
We are in desperate need of families who can help take care of a dog or cat while they are waiting for a new permanent home. A foster parent must be able to transport the animal to and from adoption events. Please email volunteer@nwac-oregon.org or call 503-285-0656 if interested.
NWAC All Star

My name is Pixie. I am exotic, unique and mysterious; I have a bobtail and extra toes. I love attention and am particular about who I hang out with and what I eat. I like my space and don't appreciate the finer qualities of small children. My estimated age is 8 yrs old. If you are intrigued (and honestly, who wouldn't be?), please call 503-285-0656.
NO KILL
When will Multnomah and/or Washington County reach "No Kill" status?
There is no uniform criteria for tracking animals who are (1) taken in, (2) adopted, (3) euthanized or (4) reclaimed
There is no requirement that Animal Shelters participate in any national statistics gathering.
One source states 56% of dogs and 71% of cats who enter a shelter are euthanized.
Another source states approximately 25% of dogs/cats at shelters are adopted.
In 2004 Multnomah and Washington Counties were approximately two points above the target "no kill" rate.
We can do better if EVERYONE gets involved: What can you do in 2013? foster some kittens? walk a foster dog? develop community adoption awareness opportunities? write a spay/neuter grant? The opportunities are endless...join the fight. They are counting on us.
Fix your cat for $10.00. Best deal in town. Licensed Veterinarians. Multiple locations to choose from. Call 1-800-345-SPAY to see if you qualify.

Why Spay and Neuter
